Does Input = Output ?
I have blogged for over two weeks now and like so many others I love quotations. I am always amazed how so few words can summarize a thought/idea better than an essay or entire book.
I work a daily cryptogram with author and quotation in the paper every morning with my first coffee. It is fun. I like to feel like I am learning something as I eat breakfast and not just sitting wasting my time. I usually find something I can apply to life or at least think about.
As the first rush of excitement, eagerness and ecstasy of blogging wears off, I am wondering – does energy + effort = reward? What am I expecting from all the hours I am composing? What am I expecting from all the hours I exert trying to understand the Dashboard? Why am I having little twinges of frustration and doubt that I am doing anything of worth?
Then behold the quotation appeared.
“We are here on earth to do good for others. What the others are here for, I don’t know.” W.H. Auden
Plainly it was asking me why I am blogging and why I am here in WordPress?
I am here in My Blog to enjoy myself, discover the essence of blogging, write a few lines a day, meet a few people, share some comments.
What you others are doing here in My Blog, I don’t know!! But I do care that you have come.
From now on (or at least until I have another blog attack) my motto will be:
How I Learned to Love Blogging and Avoid My Statistics
I’m really enjoying your humour and your commenters! Love this quote
.
I started blogging in 2008, and soon stopped. I realized I was doing it for various “should”-type reasons, and my heart wasn’t in it, and so on… Then more recently, I left behind my inner mental rules, and decided to “just do it”, and simply wrote about whatever I cared about that day. It’s a satisfying release. And I find I really learn from the doing of it – which surprised me. I guess all of life’s experiences are learning experiences……
It has been so refreshing to read the comments and find everybody else is feeling about the same way. Once we get over it….or at least once I got over it….I found I had plenty to blog about and it was ME blogging instead of trying to make something up. When I run out, I will join another free blog someplace and copy and paste it all over there. lol
Until then will just….as you said…have new experiences and learn a little something from them.
Haha! Great post! So very funny and very true. I completely understand what you mean. I also have just a few weeks blogging and have felt the same. With the blog I feel as if I am working a full-time job and have also wondered does energy+effort= reward. Again, great post! And thanks for the laugh
Hi Tiffany! I thought I would get over it. About a week later I’m still questioning my OutPut. lol
Come back if you want some more laughs. I am only here for the laughs and poking fun at myself and a few other things. I try to make my posts short and sweet if nothing else.
Thanks for your comment.
If I have understood correctly, one major reason why someone blogs, is to express one’s self without any (apperent) externally staed editorial ‘guidelines’. In such a scenario, outputs [the quality of one's expression on that blogpost] would be ceratinly relished by The Blogger, only if the output exceeds input.
‘Cryptogram’ does seem to be quite an intersting tool to solve this riddle of input ≤ output on the one’s blogs.
I suppose it is a riddle why we do anything in life.
On some occasions some one might ask me why I did such and such or said such and such.
I reply with an answer. But that answer may be completely different from the real reason. Not a lie….but just not the truth. Or I may not even know the reason.
And I have no idea why I answered your comment. LOL
Actually the reason is that if somebody comments on my blog, I want to respond………..(no matter how mixed up it sounds)
Thanks for your visit.
Well, even that make sense, or does it?
Many times you respond to things because you should [I commented because I felt like doing so, not thinking whether I should or should not] and hence, be happy with the reply that you get.
In the ultimate analysis, you get what you deserve, output = input!!!
I will let you have the last word……..LOL
(Sometimes we want more than we deserve……)
Lol. Great way of looking at things. When I just started my blog, I was very concerned about my stats, but now I learned to relax and just enjoy writing and commenting on others’ blogs:)
I only look three or four times a day instead of 10. Making progress.
I think it comes down to……what is the purpose of your blog. If you are trying to reach a lot of people with advice or political stuff or sell something etc, then you need to have a wide audience. But then you don’t have time to answer everyone that stops by. And you won’t even have time to visit their blog.
Me…I am looking for a few to interact with. And hope some of my followers are interacting with a few that I follow. I think you eventually whittle your likes down to those having this same objective.
But what is also fun is meeting/reading/enjoying/following those that are completely different from you.
My blogging experience has been very rewarding.
So has mine. I do my best to check their blogs and comment on their posts, but yes, sometimes life gets very hectic and there is no way to answer all comments. My experience blogging so far has been positive. Sometimes I just feel like writing and this is a great way to do it.
My blogging life hasn’t been that hectic yet. (darn) I can answer all my commenters in about 2 minutes. ;(
Sorry I was late in answering yours. If I answer late to comments….maybe folks will think I have a lot of commenters and rush back over to see more……….or something. lol
Lol. No, I meant my life sometimes get quite hectic and I don’t have enough time to respond.
This should be my new mantra too – good advice
It is so hard to follow our own advice. I mean advice is always for others.
Thanks for leaving your homefront and coming to the great beyond.
Hey, I like that – advice is always for others – you are wise beyond wise – glad I left my homefront
I think you can enjoy bringing enjoyment to others. No conflict. What’s a crytogram, though?
Yes, I think we get a lot of enjoyment bringing enjoyment to others.
A cryptogram contains words or phrases or sentences. Letters stand for certain other letters. You need to determine what letter stands for each letter in the cryptogram. Then you will solve the message.
Here is my message to you. Can you post it back to me?
HINT: X = Y
BROTE XSN ASW PCDCBCTF HX KJSF.
I hope I didn’t make any mistakes.
It’s a little bit easier to solve them than make them.
lol
And by the way: THANK YOU FOR VISITING MY BLOG.
I didn’t succeed at the crypogram and now I see that you gave me the answer. I also notice that I copied the letters incorrectly! Creating my own eight ball. Today is Sunday crossword puzzle and the sudoko too, which is too much for me already.
Thanks for the cryptogram, which, as I say, I needed like another hole in the head.
Reblogged this on mukta manassu and commented:
Interesting question!
Nice
.. Reminds me of the importance of doing the things we do. It is so easy to get caught in the process and wonder what it is all about.. Rightly pointed out, it is all about the love of doing things we do and that makes things worthwhile
Agreed. But it’s kind of nice if somebody else knows that we are doing all these lovely things. LOL
I’ll settle for even a couple of readers.
If you got the one that’s 49.3MB then I think that’s the one you were looking for. After this you can keep up by just downloading the latest.
Speaking of downloading, I listened to your song. You have a sweet voice.
rjb
Yes, that is the one I downloaded. Now to clear me a piece of time.
I have been making noise for about 4 years………you know where. Sweet was not one of the top responses. Most of the time I hear,
“How nice! But you really shouldn’t have!”
Other reader here….I promise I will always be faithful. And I promise never to say I told you so. Really, I promise.
Stats?? What stats??
I knew there was another reader…….somewhere.
Stats…….Stay innocent. Once you lose your innocence, you can’t get it back.
I thank youyou for the comment!
My other reader……..promises, promises
Ugly ugly stats—all lies—all damn lies!
Meme, I think youyou are just wonderful.
I don’t know about your other reader, but I find you funny (and not just your singing!)
And don’t the stats drive you crazy?
“I am here in My Blog to enjoy myself . . .” I think we can tell that. It’s why we like your blog. “. . . meet a few people, share some comments.” I think sharing comments would be the best part of most blogs. I know you wish there were more comments because I feel the same way about my blog. So, I’m trying to form the habit of leaving comments on a few blogs every day. Maybe it will help a few bloggers enjoy themselves. And besides, I like it.
rjb
I’m going to rush right over to your blog.
I feel the same way. If somebody leaves a ‘like’ I try to return and say something too.
I’m not so interested in having a lots and lots of followers as having a group that really have some things to say back and forth to one another. I mean just how much can you converse with underwater basket weavers? But there are so many neat things to read and perhaps just a comment to show one appreciates their efforts.
Underwater basket weavers? I’ll have you know there’s a lot of skill involved in underwater basket weaving. Especially when you graduate to doing it while holding your breath. Humph!
Thank you for your post, but geckos are cute. Really. Especially their little toes.

I am downloading some chapters right now. Should have known better than to do it during the peak. I think I might be still on dial up. I hope I chose the right link.
